The upcoming graduation ceremony and the coming college entrance examination are the two major tasks that we have been working hard on in recent years. Thirdly, time is so limited for us that we don\'t have time to take part in sports. I don\'t know whether foreign students want to take such competitive examinations, but we are in China.

We know that we have no way out. We must be superior to other students. That\'s why we have to study hard.

The last year of junior high school will be unforgettable, because each of us can\'t feel that we have entered the grade and there are bitter tears on the third day of our life Happy is sad, every day for us to write a pile of unfinished homework, we would like to resist once, but ultimately it is right, but our parents alas, in this case, we will study hard, day by day, test their ideal high school, do not let parents, teachers worry.

Some people prefer to plan activities for their free time very carefully. Others choose not to make any plans at all for their free time. Compare the benefits of planning free-time activities with the benefits of not making plans. Which do you prefer?―planning or not planning for your leisure time? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your choice.

I think that free time is a precious thing for most of us. When we’re working hard, it’s nice to imagine what we’ll do when the weekend comes. We juggle one idea with another, trying to decide what best suits our budget and the amount of time we have. After all, anticipating free time is part of the pleasure.

It’s good to plan what we’re going to do with our free time. That way we won’t waste any of it trying to decide. It’s so easy to just sit around and think about this or that activity. Before we know it, half the day is gone. If we decide ahead of time, We can get started in plenty of time, and we can get the most benefit out of the time we have. For instance, if we’re going on a picnic, we can get all our supplies ready to go. Or if we’re going to a movie, we can find out the time and how long it’ll take us to get there. Also, if we plan what we’re going to do with our free time, we can invite others to join us. If we wait until the last minute, our friends may have other plans.

On the other hand, it’s also fun sometimes to do things without a plan. We can just leave the house and walk around and see what catches our attention. Often, this is how we discover places we never knew existed. We might end up doing something we never thought we’d try. We might just happen to find ourselves outside a new bookstore or a bowling alley and go in on a whim, because we have some free time.

It’s nice if we can have the best of both worlds. We can plan our free time activities for one day of the weekend, and let the other day plan itself. This way our free time also gives us the enjoyment of having it both ways.

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. Chinese months are reckoned by the lunar calendar, with each month beginning on the darkest day. New Year festivities traditionally start on the first day of the month and continue until the fifteenth, when the moon is brightest. In China, people may take weeks of holiday from work to prepare for and celebrate the New Year.

I believe in our future

Honorable Judges, fellow students: Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

Thirdly, modern conveniences such as radio, TV, internet, various vehicles and labour-saving machines in the home, all greatly facilitate human communication, transportation and housework as well.

Nevertheless, living in the 21st century also has its disadvantages. The most serious one is the increasingly polluted environment; air is filled with smog and water is contaminated by iehemicals from main disadvantage is the personalization of human relattonships which mostly result from people’s ever-increasing contact with machines and numbers. Still one more disadvantage is the weakening of spiritual values. An undeniable fact is that a large number of people are solely interested in materialistic culture, while neglecting spiritual civilization. Limited by space, we have to skip the examples.

In conclusion, although the 21st century has indeed given us a lot of advantages, it may not have made us wiser, because it has also made our earth dirtier, our people less humane, and our spirituali iife poorer, We shpuld continue to enjoy the benefits of technological advancement, however, we must

make a concerted effort to preserve our natural environment for future generations. Moreover, we should take the time now to make our lives more meaningful in anihcreasingly impersonal, computerized world.

this applicant shows that her interest in public interest law flows naturally from her volunteer activities and life eperiences. when you finish this essay, do you have a sense of unity and completion? she tied her conclusion both to the highlights of the body and her lead.

the last thing i remember is falling asleep during a late night rerun of the twilight zone. so when it happened, it was especially eerie, like i had stepped into a lost episode, but rod serling was nowhere in sight; for moment, neither was anybody else. at 4:31 am a merciless shove pushed me off my bed. i crawled on the floor, trying to escape the cruel, uncontrollable shaking, but it followed me. it followed me down the stairs and underneath the dining room table where my family joined me. little did i realize that before the morning sun rose again, i would see everything differently.

my world changed. the earthquake which crippled the northridge area on january 17, 1994 rattled and ripped apart the fibers of security in our neighborhood. our home was ruined; smashed glass, crumbled walls, and the lack of electricity, gas, and water made it uninhabitable. without basic utilities, we slept and lived in our car for nine days while guarding our home from looters.

the damage was everywhere. a personal landmark, the granada hills kaiser permanente medical center, collapsed. the site where i had volunteered as a teen advisor 鈥?lobbying for and improving the quality of the teen health clinic while working one- on-one with underprivileged, problem teenagers 鈥?no longer eisted. only an empty lot and the memory of a valuable and productive medical and psychological outreach program for troubled youth remained.

as much as northridge and its surrounding regions changed eternally, so did the lives of the victims internally. following this traumatic eperience, i developed a keen awareness of the fragility of life and a newly restored appreciating for the simplest of my old comforts. as vulnerable and edgy as i was with every aftershock that rolled through the area, i consoled myself with reminders of how we were spared.

with a profound sense of gratitude for our relative good fortune, within weeks of the initial quake i volunteered at the american red cross earthquake relief center.

as my family and i rebuilt our home and our lives, i translated for iranian earthquake victims and performed various clerical tasks. yet, my most valuable contribution to the earthquake relief team stemmed from the moral support i was qualified to provide. with my earthquake eperience, i was able to comfort the teary-eyed victims who approached us for help. i gave them the hope and understanding they sought from a primarily out-of-state staff. i benefited too: my work for the red cross aroused my curiosity in public interest law.

i had the opportunity to eplore this new interest in the summer when i interned in washington . for congressman howard p. (buck) smith of california. that summer i was responsible for attending meetings and informing the congressmans staff of the issues discussed. one of the issues i followed dealt with a proposed guideline to prohibit religious epression in the workplace due to its allegedly offensive nature. defining such acts as wearing a star of david or praying silently before a meal as religious harassment, the bill attempted to equate these acts with verbal or seual harassment.

still the most fulfilling eperience of my internship was serving the mr. smiths constituents when they wrote, called, or visited our washington office. their concerns covered many issues, including city maintenance and the enforcement of fcc regulations on local radio stations; yet, most cries for help grew out of the january 17 disaster.

my eperience in the earthquake proved to be useful in my internship. after all, i was working with mr. earthquake himself. as the only intern from northridge, i was assigned to the earthquake project. i acted as a liaison between constituents and the small business administration, federal emergency management agency, and other governmental agencies that handled quake reconstruction monies. because of my eperience, i was again able to empathize with victims in a way that neither the staff nor the other interns could. as a result of my work, i gained a more profound grasp of the legal process and how it was able to help northridge residents with their post earthquake problems.

the january 17 earthquake dramatically changed my world 鈥?both inside and out. in the red cross shelter and in congressman smiths office, my career ambitions took shape: public interest law grabbed me. now i want to help those who cannot purchase legal services, not only by providing the empathy gained during my own trying eperiences, but also by using the skills and knowledge i will acquire at the abc law school. with this preparation, i look forward to helping others escape their legal or bureaucratic twilight zones.

As time goes by, nothing will change forever. Today, many popular things will soon become waste and become things on the pass, just like milkmen in Shankou. It is not because people no longer buy milk, but now the supermarket has taken over their business, and no one needs to take milk from the steps at the door.

We can say to Kodak, it doesn\'t mean that people don\'t take pictures anymore, but they can take pictures in other ways (much better than carrying a huge heavy camera around their necks and having to buy film. They\'ve been developing. Now these are old ways to take photos, not just digital cameras.

They don\'t need to buy film anymore, but they can shoot hundreds or even thousands of them in a row Photos, if you have a bigger memory card, you can also take these photos with your mobile phone, iPad or tablet computer, and the device can be processed by the computer, because computers have a lot of options for enhancement, and they need more traditional cameras. So Kodak has ended their dominance like an old lion. This is an inevitable problem.

This is a natural development or a survival environment for the fittest. Things just need to be followed. It\'s time to change to adapt to the new trend of world sports and people\'s needs, otherwise it will soon be as outdated as Eastman Kodak.

Dear Madam,

I am writing to inform you that I wish to move into a new room next semester. I would prefer a single room、as I find the present arrangement inconvenient.

I must explain the reasons for my dissatisfaction is my roommates’ inconsiderate behavior. For one thing, their friends are constantly visiting them and they regularly hold noisy parties. For another, they sometimes use my things without asking permission. Under these circumstances』I find it difficult to concentrate on my studies.

The Gentle and Tough Taxes on Birth

People always have the tendency to regard government pollcies as either gentle or tough. However, there is always exception. Take the taxes on birth for instance. It is really an incredible combination of both.

Somebody argues that the taxes on birth proclaim to the public what the government wants. That\'s true. But will the public take birth control without hesitation just because the government wants it? Besides, we can\'t always count on taxes to reverse people\'s behavior. The doubled taxes on wine and cigarettes over the past years don\'t discourage the consumption of them at all, not to mention other luxuries. To a certain degree, drinking and smoking have become more attractive to people as a symbol of financial abilities. How can we expect things to work out better if we simply apply the similar kinds of taxes on birth?

With the taxes on birth policy, the government seems to suggest to people that it is acceptable to have more children, as long as their families can afford the taxes. Thus new challenges to social equality were posed. Rich people can enjoy larger families while poor people are supposed to have fewer children. The rights of giving more births seemed to be entitled to wealthy people under the taxes policy.

Besides, once a child is born, he should be guaranteed the very best his parents could offer. In poor families, wouldn\'t the children, who are taxed be regarded as burdens by other family members because they\'ve imposed more economic pressures on their families? The tax also directly deprives his or her rights to grow up in a better economic condition while such deprivation to a child in a wealthy family doesn\'t have much influence at all.

The taxes on birth policy is, after all, gentle to the rich and tough to the poor, especially to the taxed children in poor families. Thus, it is not worth so much recommendation.

Is It Meaningful to Receive College Education?

Given the fact that many college students have difficulties in finding jobs in the recent, thousands of high school students are reported to refuse to take the National College Entrance news seems so convincing that many students, their parents, and the society reach the conclusion that receiving college education is a waste of time and , these students can earn some money working in big cities or running their own business in the near future. However, I am of opinion that this view is myopic,

which is to the detriment of personal development and China’s overall growth in the long term.

Firstly, in terms of personal development, university is not a vocational training center despite the fact that a university diploma indicates graduates are more likely to find decent jobs. Instead, university is a place for personal cultivation and improvement. In universities, students will learn to find their real interests, perfect their personality, and form right outlooks toward the world. Furthermore, students will learn to gather, analyze, and evaluate information so that they can resolve problems in their lives. For those who are suspicious of the value of higher learning, to some extent, they can be regarded as plutolatry. They worship money and believe that money is everything in their lives.

Secondly, in terms of national growth, the advancement of a nation is characterized by its greatness of high education. In this sense, universities are the centers of research and academic exploration. Take the United States for instance. Among the top 100 universities in the world, the majority of them are located in the United States. The advancement of US high education is indicative of the fact that those universities produce the most Nobel Prize laureates in comparison with other countries. American universities also turn out to be a magnet for most smart students around the world. Those universities contribute tremendous share to the US’ growth through scientific and technological China, if the belief that receiving college education is a waste of time and money can not be corrected in time, it is inevitable that China can only reap short-term GDP growth but will be deprived of opportunity to become a competitive international players in the long run, for the human resource will be drained eventually.

In sum, receiving college education will benefit both individual and the country. Indicative of the dire job market for college graduates is not the uselessness of college education. Instead, college education means we should study harder to make a full preparation for the future.

In this picture a man rudely opens a garbage can and violently throws all kinds of waste into it. however, the box is not an ordinary trash can, but is, as a matter of fact, the earth. it is where survive, breed, and prosper. but as the drawing indicates, earth does not receive an equal repayment. quite the contrary, one of the biggest ”gifts“ humans return to earth is an unbelievable amount of picture purposefully points out a kind of pollution that arouses little public attention, that is, garbage. the past century has witnessed an unprecedented increase in garbage output, most of it technological products that are difficult to be decomposed through natural processes, such as plastics and glass. furthermore, a recent report released that several major chinese cities are already surrounded by circles of trash in the suburban areas, polluting air, water, and earth.

Hence, the issue of waste pollution needs to be addressed as one of the priorities that demand social efforts. only through a holistic system of trash disposal can this problem be fully solved. moreover, we should advocate a more frugal lifestyle so as to reduce the growing scale of waste pollution.

Before, I was a very timid girl. Timid to be afraid of mice, cowardice to dare not to sleep alone, cowardly to dare not to stand high, dare not to leave their parents.

Before I was five years old, my father used to take me to climb the west rock mountain. But every time, I was bouncing back and down. Not until I was five years old. It\'s not easy to have my summer vacation. I\'m so excited. Because I can sleep until ten o \'clock. The next morning, my father pulled me out of my date with zhou, and “ordered” me to put on my clothes and put on my sneakers. I was confused and dragged to the foot of the mountain by my father.

“Ah? Dad, don\'t you, want to climb again?” “That\'s not, otherwise, when your fear of heights will be cured?” Although, my heart is very, very, and particularly reluctant, but I don\'t want to dad home to practice the “top ten torture” to me, had to crustily skin of head, hold my dad\'s hand and cascaded to climb. As the steps of the mountain were gentle, we were halfway up the hill. At this time, there appeared a temple in front of me, this is countless times is the place where I stand hard and retreat. In front of the temple gate stood a tall and steep staircase. I can\'t help but look up, my god, the two stone lions at the top are still showing the teeth of “scare” me! My father saw my fear, and used the law of tempion: “how is it? I knew you were so worthless that I would not bring you here.” It worked, and I was taken by my father: “who says I can\'t climb up? Today, let\'s take a look at your baby girl\'s true skill.
