After Mandela led these anti-apartheid activities, he spent 27 years in the prison. His life in prison was really a struggle, and hard. He still said that he would never give up fighting for the blacks though he was imprisoned.

He was arrested on August 5, 1962. At that time, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison with hard labor. In June 1963, Mandela was taken to the Rivonia Trial. Finally, the judge declared that the 5 years’ prison life became a lifelong imprisonment.
